Modern Farmhouse Design - gone or here to stay?

We often get asked  to give our opinions on different design topics for magazines and writers looking for some insight for an article they are preparing.  Usually the interview is quick, the information is gathered and the day moves on.  When Barbara connected with me regarding an article she was composing regarding Farmhouse Style, we hit it off instantly.

Perhaps it was our shared love and passion for older homes, and the appreciation for the perfectly imperfectness that adds to the character of a building.  Perhaps it was because of our appreciation and admiration of British design, or each of our connections to the Big Apple, or the fondness of the New England landscape.  Whatever it was, we chatted well over an hour, she helped me with some medical resources, we went off the Farm house topic frequently, and meandered our way over a course of multiple conversational terrains… To say the least, we hit it off way beyond the transactional dialogue that most of these phone calls bring.

She was called to write an article on Farmhouse style for the National Association of Realtors (NARS), and we both shuddered as we discussed the explosive nature of this style on the internet.  We discussed what we loved about it, but we both felt, the beauty of Farmhouse, comes from authenticity not replication.  I feel Barbara did a great job, at gathering  the facts from other designers and composing the article on Farmhouse style.  I giggled a little, because I knew some of the designer opinions were probably not mutually shared, but she did a great job at staying true to the article.  You can check it out here… Realtors Newsletter
