Full-Time or Part-Time | Kim Armstrong Interior Design
Kim Armstrong Interior Design is looking for a talented Interior Designer to join our team. We are a boutique residential design firm known for colorful, collected and highly personal interiors with a strong emphasis on beautiful fabrics, pattern, detail and character.
This position can be part-time or full-time, depending on the right candidate. We are looking for someone with professional design experience, strong technical skills and, most importantly, a great eye and the ability to take direction and critique.
We need someone who is comfortable being given a design concept and coming back with thoughtful options, solutions and details.
What You’ll Do
Assist Kim with residential design projects from concept through installation
Create and revise floor plans, elevations and detailed drawings in AutoCAD
Create work orders that execute the design direction
Develop furniture plans, cabinetry details, lighting plans and finish selections
Source furniture, fabric, wallpaper, tile, lighting, accessories, art and vintage pieces
Prepare design presentations, specifications and project documentation
Work with Kim to develop initial concepts into complete design solutions
Assist with site visits, installations and styling
Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, contractors and workrooms
Help keep projects organized and moving forward
Pay attention to the small details that make a room feel special
Enjoys the nitty gritty part of design that take a project from an idea to a reality
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of professional interior design experience preferred
Strong residential design portfolio
Proficiency in AutoCAD required
Strong understanding of scale, proportion, space planning and construction details
A natural eye for color, pattern, fabric and layered interiors
Ability to take direction and work independently
Proactive, resourceful and comfortable figuring things out
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Strong communication and follow-through
Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities
Collaborative, positive and comfortable working within a small team
Exceptional candidates with slightly less experience but a strong portfolio and technical skills will also be considered.
You Might Be a Great Fit If…
You love a beautiful room, but you also notice why it works.
You notice the trim on a pillow, the scale of a lamp, the way cabinetry lines up and whether a room needs another layer. You appreciate antiques, original art and one-of-a-kind finds just as much as beautiful new furnishings. You are comfortable with color and pattern and don't believe every home should look the same. You enjoy the creative side of design, but you also understand that great design requires organization, precision and follow-through. Most importantly, you can hear an idea, understand the intention behind it and take it from there.
Schedule
We are open to either:
Part-Time: Approximately 20–30 hours per week
Full-Time: Approximately 40 hours per week
The schedule can be structured around the right candidate and the needs of the firm
