How to Budget for your Interior Design Project

Let’s Get Ready!

Time to chat about budgets, how to create them and when to splurge.

It’s budget talk time!!!  Such an important part of any project because it steers your designer to the correct vendors and it gives us the parameters to stay within for your home.  But, what I often hear is , I don’t even know where to start and what a good budget is for a space?  Well fret no longer, I got you covered.

As I sat down to write out a Budget Blog and guide you on how to come up with your Interior Design budget, I went down a rabbit hole and wanted to see what other designers were telling their clients.  In doing this, I came across a fabulous article that really said everything I was thinking!!  Sooooooo, instead of recreating the wheel, I’m just going to bring the wheel to you.

One thing to note on the budgets they listed – when you see the + sign next to the designer items, this means that is your base cost.  You are purchasing fabric on top of this cost so keep that in mind if you are looking to do an awesome custom piece that cost on the worksheet will be low.  Also, keep in mind inflation is real and pricing is changing on the daily so today this looks great, next week, it may have gone up 30%.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this article pertains to furnishings – not construction.  If you are looking into doing renovation and thinking about a designer’s fee, rule of thumb says $25 to $35 per square foot.

Other than that, I felt things were pretty spot on and a great way to help you determine what you should have on hand for your project.  If you need any further help determining your budget or if you are ready to go with your project, let’s get you on our calendar Book a Discovery Call!  We’d love to help make your home amazing.

And now finally, here is the article!  Huge props to Grey Hunt Interiors for putting this down in a easy to understand format – I hope y’all enjoy it!  How to Plan for Your Next Interior Design Project
